I’m still experimenting with tape lines, but I love how easy it is to paint tips & patterns!

Poshé is a new topcoat from Sally Beauty Supply…we’ll see how it holds up!

Review: Garnier Beauty Balm

After almost two weeks of using their BB, I’m pleased to say…wow! It not only made my skin look better after using it, but continually improved the condition of my skin. Dewier, more even toned, etc. I’ll keep tracking the improvements!

Garnier BB Review:

PROs: sheer coverage, improves skin tone/texture when used, improves skin tone/texture with consistent use

CONs: can leave t-zone oily, may clog pores for some users, coverage could be too light for some users

CONCLUSION: buy to replace primer + serum + tinted moisturizer

Made of Win: My Fitness Pal

My #11daychallenge shifted almost right after it started, from walking every day to taking a comprehensive step toward better health, in the form of My Fitness Pal, a food/fitness tracking app and site.

It’s past time that I took a hard, honest look at my health and DID something about it. So you, and the community at My Fitness Pal, have a front-row seat to my fitness journey (yes, please contain your excitement!). Want to join in? Friend me here.

Starting weight: 205

Ending weight: 140

Weight loss goal: 65 lbs.

It’s going to be a long journey, I know…but adding some embarrassing pictures might help! Erm, maybe.

Me at 205.   Unflattering pic, but I did get a strike!

All joking aside, this is the pic that brought it all home to me. I am NOT healthy at this weight. I am NOT happy at this weight. AND it was a bad BAD hair day on top of it all. AND did I mention how much I hate having my picture taken? AND that I was under these disgusting bright lights, the center of attention? Not my best moment.

Goodness, I’m shaking just thinking about sharing this, but I think honesty and openness is one of the cornerstones of this blog, so here I am…but not for long!

LOTD: Bare Minerals “Pretty Wild”

Exhibit A: bareMinerals “Pretty Wild” Face Fasion kit (Christmas Present)

–mascara (thick, no clumps though)

–blush (good flushed pink shade)

–pale lavender eye shadow (too pale)

–olive eye shadow (too deep for the lavender)

–pinky brown lip gloss (really thick, almost lipstick consistency, but didn’t get sticky or flaky)

Ignore the gray hair!

In this pic you can only really see the lip color (which I LOVE), so I’ll take more when I can get my hands on the DSLR!

Goodbye puffy, dark circles! I’m putting this side-by-side with the other under eye concealers I have.

Weekend Beauty Haul 1/22/2012

Another successful shopping Sunday, courtesy of Sally Beauty Supply, Rite Aid, Walgreens, and CVS.

 Beauty Sans the BS

Walgreens: Neutrogena buy one, get one 50%

1. Neutrogena 3-in-1 concealer in Fair o5, $11.49 – $2.00 manufacturer’s coupon = $9.49

–I need to test this concealer more in bright light (it was overcast today). I’m putting it through a few side-by-side tests, first against no makeup, then against a couple other undereye concealers I’ve tried out.

2. Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm in Fresh Plum, $8.99 – $3.50 (50% off) – $2.00 Walgreen’s coupon – $1.00 manufacturer’s coupon = $2.49, MUST-TRY ITEM

–This is AMAZING! I’m always on the lookout for lip color that moisturizes, doesn’t make my lips flake (like the Rimmel moisturizing lipstick), doesn’t gum up (like most glosses), and has good pigment. I wore this today for hours and afterward, my lips actually felt smoother! This is going through a week-long before and after test to see if it holds up to the claim of actually making your lips healthier. Before and after pics coming soon!

Rite Aid: Maybelline buy one, get one 50%

1. Maybelline Eye Studio color pearls marbelized eyeshadow in Limited Edition Teal Takeover, $6.69 – $2.0o video values coupon = $4.69 + $3.00 +UP reward on $10 Maybelline purchase

–This is my *gasp* first blue-ish eyeshadow. I’ve always stuck to browns and purples before, but this one just suckered me in with the contrast between the teal and the beautiful coppery marbled side. The color, swiped on via finger, is bold and the pearlescent shimmer doens’t disappoint. I’m testing it for longevity, creasing, etc. soon.

2. Shine-free loose powder in Light 01, $6.13 – $3.10 (50% off) – $2.00 manufacturer’s coupon = $1.09

–According to the packaging, this mattifying powder will keep shine at bay for hours. We’ll see…but I’ve wanted to try a matte setting powder for awhile, and this one practically fell into my lap.

3. BONUS: Curly Sexy Hair gift set with shampoo, conditioner, and curl enhancer, $19.99 x 75% off = $4.99

–Cheap curl shampoo is always a bit of a let down. We’ll see how the salon brands stack up!

CVS: Extra Care Bucks on  Garnier and Blistex

1. Blistex Deep Renewal Anti-Aging Treatment, $3.49 on sale for $2.87 – $0.35 manufacturer’s coupon = $2.52 + $2.00 ECB

–Ever on the hunt for lip balm that doesn’t goop or flake on my lips.

2. Garnier Skin Renew B.B. Cream, $12.99 on sale for $10 and Garnier Fructis 2-in-1 daily shampoo and conditioner (for the man) $6.49 on sale for $5  - $3 ECB from past purchases= $12.00 + $2.00 ECB + $1.00 ECB for my green bag tag reward

–I’ve been dying to try a B.B. cream since Paper Doll Revenge told me about them. I have a feeling it might be too heavy for my combination skin, but it’s going through testing this week.

3. Sally Hansen Hard as Nails polish in Ivy League, $3.48 x 75% discount = $0.82

–A shimmery green-apple color, perfect for summer!

Sally Beauty Supply

1. Hairtrition sleek and smooth shampoo, $7.89 = $0.00 with Sally Beauty Member coupon for free shampoo

–I’ll be doing shampoo tests in the coming weeks to see how this and other stack up to their claims.

2. GVP Tea Tree hair and scalp treatment, $7.15 (not pictured) = $5.00 with Sally Beauty Member sale/discount

–Anything with tea tree oil makes my scalp tingly and healthy! This is a scalp scrub equivalent to the one by Paul Mitchell. Review soon.
